Why we walk

A national call for healing. For the women, children, and communities that have carried this weight.

Walk Her Story is the Footprints Foundation’s response to gender-based violence in South Africa. The work is built on four practices: healing, storytelling, accountability, and coaction. It is survivor-led and community-built.

Across 2026 we are rolling out nationally through community walks, survivor-led healing circles, school-based programmes, and digital storytelling. We are partnering with organisations such as FootGolf South Africa ahead of the 2026 FootGolf World Cup. None of this work proceeds without a community choosing to walk with us.

This page is where that begins. Tell us how you would like to contribute: through time, expertise, or financial support. Every pledge receives a personal response from a member of our team. No auto-charges. No fine print. No obligation.

Walk Her Story is a national call for healing — for women, for children, and for communities who have carried the weight of silence for too long.

The reality

South Africa's femicide rate is five times the global average.

Walk Her Story is how a nation begins to answer. Through coordinated healing, public storytelling, and collective accountability.
